NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has discovered icy compounds surrounding protostars, offering insights into the chemical foundations of habitable worlds. The study suggests that complex organic molecules (COMs) are formed through solid-phase reactions on cold dust grains and can be transported to planet-forming disks via comets and asteroids.
