Research shows how altered protein folding drives multicellular evolution

Researchers found that altered protein folding, through experimental evolution, drives the creation of multicellular life. The study highlights the importance of the regulation of proteins and the need to understand the entire flow of genetic information in this process. Additionally, changes in cell shape and the cell cycle progression contribute to the development of tough bodies.
