Kalpna Chawla is the first woman who was went in space during NASA'S space mission. She was working for NASA .

She was born in 17 march 1961. She was live in India 1962-1991. After that she went to America in 1991 -2003.
She was an American astronaut and the engineer . She was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space. She first flew on the space shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator.
Her father wanted to make her teacher or doctors . But she wasn't interested in that's fields. she was interested in aero-space science . In her childhood she asked about the space from her father. like to ,how does the aro-plan and space craft flow in the space . She asked can I fly too in space . But her father used to postponed their matter by laughing .

In 1988, She began working at NASA Ames research centre where she did computational fluid dynamics (CFD ) research on vertical and short take off and landing ( V/STOL) concept. Much of Chawla's research is included in technical journals and confrensh papers.

She died 1 Feb. 2003 over the southern United States When space shuttle columbia and her crew pershed during entry 16 minute prior to landing . She survived her husband . kalpna Chawla enjoyed her flying ,hiking , and reading.she held a certificated flight instructor's license with airopaln and glider rantings.commercials pilot's licenses for single and multiple engine land seaplanes , and glider , instruments Rating for airplanes . She enjoyed flying aerobatics and tail-wheel airplanes.
Educational life of Kalpna Chawla's
Kalpna Chawla was think about the stars and planets in her childhood . She was interested in space science . Till that time , Science didn't develop as it is today. She was completed her primary education in Tagore's school of Karnal , in Haryana. After that kalpna Chawla got engineering degree from Chandigarh engineering colleges. And after that she went America for come true her dreams. Where she was completed his P.hd degree from Colorado University.

Her first space mission began on 2 May 1997.as part of the six astronaut crew that flew the space shuttle Columbia flight STS-87 .
On her first mission she was traveled 10.4 million mills 252 orbits of the earth . This mission ended on 5 Dec. 1997 with successfully. After that's mission indian talent was knowing in world.
And after 5 years NASA nominated the kalpna Chawla name's for going into the space . Kalpna Chawla's second flew was started on 16 Jan 2003 , from the columbia space shuttle . On that's mission she was completed something 80 testing and experiment. After that she was coming on the earth. They have 16 minutes for landing on the earth , suddenly the space shuttle was blasted. All astronauts was died as well as kalpna Chawla.

• In 5 Feb 2003 , The prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced the meteorological series of satellite metset ,was to be renamed "Kalpna".
And the first satellite of series "Metset" launched by the india on 12 September 2002 was renamed 'Kalpna -1".
• in honour of Kalpna Chawla ,asteroid was named asteroid 51826 kalpna Chawla one of seven named after the Columbia's crew.
•"The Kalpna Chawla award" was instituted by the Karnataka Government
In 2004 to recognised young Indian women scientist.
• NASA space company of United States of America has dedicated to supercomputer to Kalpna Chawla.
• The Kalpna Chawla ISU Scholarship fund , was founded the alumni of the international space university (ISU) In 2010 for supporting the indian women participation in International space education programs. Which organize by the ISU.
